Faculty, students, professionals, and families call this stunning area home. The atmosphere is vibrant and the University brings even more energy into this neighbourhood. Residents enjoy many outdoor pursuits including kayaking and canoeing on the Speed River, walking to the Boathouse for ice cream, or taking a stroll to the Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings.

The old world charm is hard to beat, making it another sought after area in Guelph. You can literally feel the area’s history as you walk the streets. Located within walking distance of Downtown and close to the Gordon St. corridor if you want to head out of town, Old University is a convenient place to live. The eclectic mix of residents adds to the appeal of this stunning neighbourhood.

What to Keep in Mind

Costs can be high, although the odd time you can find a great fixer upper. There can be a little friction between the mixed demographic in the neighbourhood, especially in the fall as new students arrive, but the City of Guelph works hard to ensure all live in harmony, which is much appreciated.

Clairfields

To the west of Westminster Woods, you will find the less populated Clairfields. The residential neighbourhood takes up only a corner, the rest is Hanlon Creek Conservation Area loved by nature and athletic enthusiasts.
